Illustration of sections
Hi all, I allowed myself, after agreement with @Wandererfan, to change the illustrations, in order to give them a more "response to a technical need" aspect.
Illustration of complex sections
As for the sections page, after agreement with @Wandererfan, I took the liberty of modifying the illustrations.
"Quarter section" example
This is called in France a half-section view, and according to the standard, a thin dash-dot (which you call dash-dot) separates the two parts of the view.
"Aligned section" example
This is called in France a sectional view with secant planes, and according to the standard, a thin dashed line here also separates the two parts of the view. The oblique part is said to be "folded down" in the section plane. I chose to pass the section through the plane of symmetry of the rib, because it should not be hatched according to the standard, and this will have to call for a "trick" or a workaround, if the program can't handle it.
"Offset section" example
This is called in France a section view with parallel planes, and according to the standard, a thin dashed line "may" indicate the trace of the change of plane.
