| Description | If a document created with FreeCAD contains line objects (Workbench Draft), these lines seem not to be converted correctly if the document is opened in FreeCAD 0.17. See Step instructions for more details. This seems to be a serious issue to me, if users have created a lot of FreeCAD documents in 0.16 and can't open them in 0.17. A workaround in my case was, to start both FreeCAT version simultaneously and copy/paste all objects (except the line objects) from the old to the new version and create all lines again in the new document. I enjoy FreeCAD a lot and hope I can support you to improve it with this bug report. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | In 0.16: 1. Workbench Draft add a Line with start point 0,0,0 and end point 10,0,0 mm (x,y,z). 2. Save that document. In 0.17: 3. Open the created document. The line is marked with the redraw Symbol, in the Tabfolder Model of the Combo View. 4. Press F5 for redraw. --> The line is not drawn. It is marked with an exclamation mark and grayed out in the Tabfolder Model of the Combo View. | ||||

I have tested your file and it just works fine for me. I also created a 0.16 project myself and this loads fine, too. When hovering over the icon with the exclamation mark what error is displayed in the tool tip? |

When I hover over the icon with the exclamation mark, no error is shown. No tooltip is shown, and no error on the lower left corner of the FreeCAD window. But when I open the document and the redraw Symbol is shown (step 3 in my step instructions), the following error is shown on the lower left corner of the FreeCAD window: Gui::Command::activated(0): Unknown C++ exception thrown Is there a way to get more log output? Did you test on the exact same 0.17 build? Which vcredist (Visual C++ Redistributable package) version did you use? I used 12.0.30501.0 provided with FreeCAT, but installed separately, because that failed on the setup of FreeCAD. |

I have used: OS: Windows 7 Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.17.13515 (Git) Build type: Release Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-17 Hash: e17b340949b75a226cc7d89989b0aa238ccfc75f Python version: 2.7.14 Qt version: 4.8.7 Coin version: 4.0.0a OCC version: 7.2.0 Locale: German/Germany (de_DE) which is the official release you will find in the download area. vcredist is exactly the same version that you have. |

Unfortunately I was not on the latest release. I completely deinstalled 0.17.13509 and also vcredist and then installed 0.17.13515 and vcredist. Now the provided test file and also other documents I created with 0.16 open fine in 0.17. I thought I'm on the latest release, the German text on the download page states 'Die aktuelle stabile Version von FreeCAD ist '0.17.13509' veröffentlicht am 06.04.2018.' But when downloading now, it is 0.17.13515. But anyway, the problem is solved in the meanwhile. Thanks for your effort. |

That's odd. I have this also tested with a six month old 0.17 preview version where it worked as expected. |
